Purpose of these works: a subterranean parking for 300 cars. Enterprise of the Commune of Torino: the building of a suterranean car-parking below San Carlo square, one of the central squares of Torino. Such a disputed projet,since on the ancient texts the square is pointed as a probably interesting archaeological site... Commune's experts have adfirmed, nearly one year ago, that there, there was absolutely nothing of important, of public interest or of any particular archaeological interest. It has been made a drill too, to see if, digging, something could have been found. After a some decimeters' drill, in a corner of the square, nothing came out and so the works started. Print of the square in Sabauda epoch, anonimous engraving on the design of G.Tommaso Borgonio dated 1674. ...but,unfortunately, as it often happens, (expecially to the ones who don't take a look to the ancient documentations) digging, in spite of the "legends", something UNEXPECTED!

Panoramic view of the actual works: 10-01-2005 But it seems that the journalists of the town newspaper "La Stampa" say that these buildings are of less archaeological interest and that should belong to a roman epoch bridge.. Very strange: the river Po flows nearly one Kilometer far from!

Particular of the buildings(nearby the center of the square) adiacent to the equestrian statue. And the journalists of the daily paper adfirm that the cylindrical columns, made in mortar, should be dued only to a mortar flow to fill wells. (A very strange opinion). In consequence of these damned ancient walls and columns, it seems that the town Commune is now forced to reduce the number of car-places: from 300 to 250!

The citizens of Torino are quite perplexed whether for the journalistic statements or the Commune's decision to continue the works.

This project had , anyhow, already from the beginning, big contestations.

But, by the moment, works are well advanced.

Personally, also if I am not an archaeologist,the come to light of buildings don't seem to me to be the one of a bridge, nor that the ancient peoples were used to dig dwells to fill them up later with mortar, that, in addiction, contains iron rods (we can see them in some broken columns) just like the modern ferro-concrete. Surely not ancient but modern! Buildings by the equestrian monument(covered for restoration). The colonnade with cylindrical columns, nearly occupies the whole perimeter of the square. Was it a bridge for extraterrester space ships?.. Not considering the colonnade, probably quite recent, what have the central buildings to do with a bridge? Colonnade and other buildings(from the opposite side). *But beyond my suppositions, be you the judges of these pictures.* Other photoes in the next page.
